How we work
Measured, not claimed
Anyone can print a number on a website. The question worth asking a tire company is what happens when the number is inconvenient. These are the four rules we have committed to, and they are only worth anything for as long as we keep them.
- 01Every figure carries its conditionsA section width without its measuring rim is not a specification. A hardness without its temperature is not a specification. If we publish a number, the condition it was taken under travels with it.
- 02Unverified figures are flagged, not quietly roundedSome of what you see is still our working figure rather than something we have confirmed on our own equipment. Those rows say so. They will be replaced with measured values.. not adjusted toward them.
- 03We would rather leave a gap than fill itHow long a set lasts is the clearest example. Everyone asks and we are not going to guess. Life depends on surface, temperature, pressure, angle and how hard you drive, and any number we printed today would be a number we made up. The test day on 10 October is where we start collecting it, and what we publish afterwards will say how it was measured and on what.
- 04Every set ships with its own measurementsA card in the box carrying that batch's measured figures against the published ones, with the deviation and the tolerance. Where a value falls outside tolerance, the batch does not ship.
What we do not publish
Two things, and it is worth being straight about both.
How the tire is made. Our tooling and the drawings behind it stay ours. Publishing your specification is transparency. Publishing your manufacturing package is handing a competitor a head start, and it would not make the tire under you any better.
Performance claims we cannot reproduce. No lap times, no grip figures, no percentage improvements over a rival. If we cannot put it on a machine and get the same answer twice, it is an opinion, and you can form your own for free.
Hold us to it
If something we publish does not match what you experience on track, tell us and we will either correct the page or explain why we disagree. That is the whole arrangement.
